The international festival "Jazz province" was held in Kursk for the 23rd time. But this year it changed the format and venue. Instead of several performances by musicians on one day in a row, there were four concerts with an interval of 2-3 weeks or more. All concerts were held in the Philharmonic hall-2 in the Sviridovsky hall.
As in previous years, the festival visited 11 cities, among which the Central one, of course, was Kursk. The opening took place on August 27 in Moscow at the club of the famous saxophonist Igor Butman. Further performances took place over three autumn months.
"After the last festival, when a whole week of jazz was held in Kursk, it seemed to me that even the most avid music lovers found it difficult to give up all evening activities for so many days. I don't want to offend the musicians with empty seats in the hall, because those we invite are worthy of any stage in the world. So we decided to choose this experimental format. Maybe it will end up that we will return to the traditional scheme, and maybe, on the contrary, the innovation will appeal to everyone" - Leonid Vintskevich
