He was born into a family of musicians. He studied at the music school at the piano and wind compartments simultaneously. In 1994 he entered the Alfred Schnittke College of Music in the class of trumpet to AM Pautov. Already studying in college, V. M. Lavrik declared himself as a trumpeter-soloist, performing with various orchestras in Russia and abroad.
From 1998 to 2003 he continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor Yu.A. Usov, and later in the class of Associate Professor Yu. E. Vlasenko (graduated under his direction postgraduate studies in 2005).
Since 2008, senior lecturer of the Department of Brass Instruments of the Moscow Conservatory.
Laureate of several international competitions, among which: Competition of young trumpeters. T. Dokshitsera (1994, 1996), the International Competition "Classical Heritage" (1994), "Moscow International Trumpeters Competition" (2000).
In 2011, for the first time took part in the VII annual music festival "Crescendo".
Laureate of the Prize of the President of the Russian Federation for young cultural figures in 2015.
