Vartan Babayan is a graduate of the pop and jazz department of the Gnesin Academy of Music in the percussion class of the famous teacher MI Kovalevsky. He worked in the variety and symphony orchestra of the State Television and Radio of Armenia, played in the Yerevan ensemble of percussion instruments, in many jazz and blues collectives of Moscow. In the beginning of 2009 he created the group "VB guintet", where Vartan's compositions are performed. He is a regular participant of the projects "Vision of Sound", "Anatoly Gerasimov Band", "Bass Magic" by Anton Gorbunov, "Virgin Tears", Quartet Y. Schetkina, "Marat Shunkar Trio", "Seven Winds", "Cubamania", " Gultarmania ".
